Man needs scrapbook lingo help?
I need to know what in the world eyelets and embellishments are. My wife scrapbooks and for Christmas I wanted to get her more scrapbooking things, but when she starts listing off things like: eyelets, embellishments, crop-a-dile, snaps, etc I have NO idea what she's talking about. So instead of looking dumb at the store, can anyone tell me what these things are. I think she has the cropadile, the glorified hole punch (right?), and I know what brads are, but what is the rest? Also, what are some basic things that she can never have too many of? I don't want to ask her, because then she'll know, but I don't like giving her money/gift certificates. So a little help would be great!!!
If you have a Michaels, Joanns or Hobby Lobby in your town you will find lots of scrapbooking items you can get for your wife that she will love. Things you can't have too much of? Eyelets (they are like you used to see on shoes, umm, a guy might think of them as tiny grommets), embellishments (That's anything that you can fancy up a page with. They can be little signs, 3D stickers, they usually have a theme so think of what kinds of pictures your wife has coming up.) One thing I can always use more of is decorative letters for making titles and labels for pictures. Decorative ribbon is always useful. Funny shaped paper clips are fun. You know what brads are but scrapbooking brads come in lots of different shapes, styles and colors so don't just look for the brass vatiety you are thinking of. If you have kids any stickers, embellishments etc that go along with your kids' interests will be much appreciated. If there was a wedding or birthday celebration recently there are embellishments and stickers to go with those, too. Just think of what themes go best with your family activities and you will probably find scrapbooking things to go with it. If you don't have one of those stores, look and see if your town has a scrapbooking store. If not, try WalMart. If your wife has a crop-a-dile it sounds like you have some kind of a hobby store. Whatever you do, don't stress out about it. Scrapbookers are happy with whatever they have at hand. Part of the challenge of scrapbooking is coming up with the best design with the matierials at hand.
