Save Money on Photo Paper

You can print rough drafts on the blank sides of used paper.

You can cut your paper expenses in half by printing on both sides of the page. (known as duplex printing)

Print multiple images at a reduced size on one page (Example: put four or six regular-sized pages on one page) This practice, known in the industry as n-up printing is mainly used to save on paper and printing costs.

Photoshop has a similar feature, a contact sheet (shown below) that automatically puts multiple images on one sheet.

If You're Using Windows You can access this feature by:

>>> right-clicking your printer icon and choosing Printing Preferences

>>> which brings up a dialog box where you will find the

>>> "fit to page" and "page-scaling" feature

that lets you squeeze a legal-size page onto letter-size paper or two half-sized pages onto letter-size paper or other combinations.

Print Less

Just because there is an image or text on the screen in front of you does not mean that you have to print it. This especially goes for internet pages. Besides, an internet page will cause your ink and paper to work overtime to blend all the colors together for a desired look.

If you must print a web page use black ink only.

To not print the background colors in Internet Explorer

Go to Option >> Advanced >> Printing

Uncheck the print background color and images button.

If you don't need to print the pictures uncheck the show pictures button. When using the windows print box consider these 2 options:

> Print selection (what you previously selected)

> Print page range (you select in the box to the right)

When you print test images or draft prints,

>> reduce the image size and >> use plain inkjet paper.

The plain or uncoated paper setting uses more ink, that's because it spreads outs and needs more ink to compensate.

The premium/pro photo paper and glossy film paper settings use the least amount because their ability to "hold a dot".

Don't waste paper

Before you print or send your images to a print service; use the preview feature before printing. Check for stray thumbs, red-eye, and other flaws. You can find many editing tools, such as Photoshop, if you need to touch-up or correct a photo before printing.
