Should I eat this cheese?

I found some shredded mozerella cheese in a pkg in my fridge. It says the expiration date is July 8. It looks completely healthy, no foul smell, no funny colors. The package says it is guaranteed fresh until the date on the front pf the package as long as it is unopened. Once its opened, it should be consumed within 3 - 5 days. The problem is, I buy this kind of cheese ALL the time, and dont remember when I bought THIS particular package. I wanna use it to make a sandwich cuz im too lazy to go to the store right now. Should it be safe to eat even if I did buy it and open it longer than 5 days ago?

I eat cheese that has been opened for far longer than 5 days! If it has been refridgerated, there are no odors, and no funny shades of blue you will be fine. When you have a whole piece of cheese that has mold on it you can cut it off and be okay, however pre-shredded cheese has more surface area for mold to grow making it harder to keep fresh. For longer shelf life and money saving qualities, try buying cheese in 1# blocks and shredding it yourself as you need it.
